Alex's Hand

Alex's Hand

Alex's Hand is an avant-garde alternative band centered around the songwriting of multi-instrumentalist Kellen Mills and drummer Nic Barnes. Currently based out of Berlin, Germany though inspired by their wandering experiences around the globe, the ever-evolving project will release their latest full length this year: Hungarian Spa. “Our new music on Hungarian Spa was written as a concept album with different characters and people we've met in Europe. Berlin is full of people who came there as we did, to make music or art. It creates a sort of artistic bubble full of talented and passionate people that are willing to take artistic risks.” Hungarian Spa speaks for itself as a continuation of the artistic risks Mills and Barnes welcome through this expanding musical platform. The Seattle-born, genre-expanding, and deeply collaborative musicians will share their first sneak peek of the album this summer with the swirling and disorienting “Sittin’ on the couch”, which stands as the artists’ commentary on society’s obsession with feedback from social media. “At the heart of our music, there is always a punk ethos and an anti-attitude applied to tight composition and improvisation, which we quite enjoy.” Their sonic output greatly varies from album to album, although keeping a particular kind of jazz and experimental mix at bay. Prior to this forthcoming release, Alex’s Hand has self-released four full-length studio albums, two EPs, one live album, and a collection of spontaneous live improvisations; the musicians keep themselves quite busy. They have toured extensively throughout the United States, France, UK, Germany, and Eastern Europe, with KaTaTaK (RAIG records) having been strongly received in Germany, France and the US. On their own, the band has built a loyal following in their home country as well as in Germany and France. Alex’s Hand will tour this fall following the release of Hungarian Spa. Alex’s Hand is supported by Initiative Musik GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. https://alexshandband.com/ https://facebook.com/alexshandband/Audio https://alexshand.bandcamp.com/ https://soundcloud.com/alexshand https://youtube.com/channel/UCWZ_CBnSudLYryDzvoaf3_w
