Hörbar: Emanuele Grossi / Philipp Henkel

Hörbar: Emanuele Grossi / Philipp Henkel Doors 19:00, concerts 20:00 Emanuele Grossi is an Italian composer and performer based in Hanover, Germany. His critical approach deals with the juxtaposition of different temporal and stylistic levels within a unified framework, often drawing close connections to the physical means of sound production, and self reflection on the music performance act. The instrument which he uses: emigrain, works using field recordings to merge granulation and mixing/playbacks techniques. The random selection of sound sources during the performance creates situations where the player has to react to the new materials only relying on instinct. Philipp Henkel is a German composer, curator, and multimedia artist based in Hannover. In his music, gestural instability and extended expressionism transform the subjective listening experience. His compositions and multimedia works explore the implications of technology and societal failure(s) through a research-led approach. His music has been performed by ensembles including Trio Recherche, Quasar, Axe and Pile, Musikfabrik and Hand Werk across Europe, Asia and North America. Recent premieres and exhibitions have taken place at the GAIDA Festival, the 21st Century Arts Museum Kanazawa, Ryoguko Monten Hall in Tokyo , Monopol Berlin, Unerhörte Musik at the BKA Theater in Berlin, as well as the ZKM in Karlsruhe.
