Hörbar: Gunnar Lettow & Michael Thielke / Feine Trinkers bei Pinkels Daheim
Duo Gunnar Lettow and Michael Thieke Berlin-based clarinetist, composer and performer Michael Thieke is at home in experimental song forms, collectively composed projects, improvising ensembles and music at the fringes of jazz. His work focuses on the microscopic exploration of sound, timbre and noise, with a particular interest in microtonality and related phenomena. Hamburg musician Gunnar Lettow expands the sonic possibilities of the electric bass through various preparations – using skewers, clips or brushes – and a distinctive use of effects. He is active in numerous improvisational contexts and performs regularly in changing ad‑hoc constellations. Since 2010 he has curated Frequenzgänge, a concert series for improvised and experimental music in Hamburg. Together, Thieke’s microtonal clarinet and Lettow’s prepared electric bass let structure emerge in real time between noise and silence, rich in subtle detail and fragile dynamics. Feine Trinkers bei Pinkels Daheim They are from Bremen and Lörrach on the German coasts, and have toured everything from The Netherlands to Switzerland, Russia and Great Britain extensively over the last 2 decades. Every show of Feine Trinkers bei Pinkels is an experience for itself - it's timeless, it's a feast for the ears, and it's such a pleasure to see them doing all the work on stage when you just lean back staring at them, with their aural earbuds tickling your eardrums. Now, Yesterday or Tomorrow, and why do they have such an attention to detail - that's the question you will ask yourself.
