Exchanges lV ◆ Work Unheard Invisible and unheard labour. How can its forms like feminized care and ecosystem perpetuation be turned audible and experienceable? How do visibility and audibility operate as political categories? Those questions are in the spotlight of the evening featuring concerts, an installation, and a discussion at Hörbar 📢 ▸ 18:30 “Bottleneck” installation by the artist duo Fngr Fuia. They transform the cinema’s foyer into a self-referential acoustic instrument. The installation focuses on the often-overlooked sounds of a cinema’s infrastructure – such as water flowing through pipes and the hum of the heating system or ventilation. ▸ 19:30 "Listening Instructions": a brief silent projection by Constantin Gröhn will open the evening. ▸ 19:40 Discussion with participating artists around the topic of Unheard Labour and their works. ▸ 20:15 David Wallraf, a Hamburg-based noise artist who mostly works with modular synthesizers, manipulated field recordings and voice. Besides solo and international collaborative works at the intersections of noise and music, they wrote the PhD thesis "Noise and the Limits of Hearing – Acoustics of the Political" at HFBK Hamburg. Their main artistic concern lies in the uncanny acoustics of quotidian life, the unplanned and incalculable characteristics of noise and the ways that power makes itself audible. ▸ 21:00 Lasse-Marc Riek is a sound artist and composer specializing in acoustic ecology, bioacoustics, and field recording. In the concert version of his 'BEES' installation, Lasse-Marc attempts to make the increasing silencing of wild bees tangible through the transformation of bioacoustic field recordings within the concert space. I understand the pollination service of these insects as a fundamental, often invisible form of ecosystem labor. 🤝 A collaboration between Hörbar e.V. and the Church Service in the Working World. Funded by the German Music Council, the State Center for Political Education Hamburg and the Ministry of Culture and Media Hamburg
